Apple cider vinegar is a sour liquid that is prepared using fermented products of apple, and there exists a common belief that it can cure many health conditions like gout. Several kinds of research also suggested that the use of it could be beneficial for treating many conditions.

Gout is a type of arthritis that occurs due to the building up of uric acid crystal in the joints. The crystals are seen to be causing swelling, redness, and pain in the joints as well as the tissues surrounding the joints, mainly in the lower limbs. Vinegar is commonly used by most people to cook meals, prevent infections and also to treat wounds.

How to Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Although there seems to be no fixed dosage recommended about using apple cider vinegar to treat or prevent gout, a review conducted in the year 2016 suggested that taking 15 ml of vinegar orally every day could be beneficial in improving some risk factors in a person like high blood pressure and obesity, which can be a cause for gout.

The best way to use vinegar is to use it in a diluted form, and it is very important to dilute it as it is very acidic. Consuming foods and drinks that are acidic can weaken tooth enamel of a person which can, in turn, increase the risk of decay and cavities in the tooth.

Risk Factors

Although the consumption of apple cider vinegar is safe, it is important to be aware of the risk and precautions that can be taken. A few studies have found that people who had the habit of consuming apple cider vinegar every week were seen to be ten times more likely to have erosive damage to their teeth. Diluting the drinks made of apple cider vinegar and drinking it using a reusable straw may lessen the level of exposure of mouth and teeth to the acid.

Several types of research have also found that the consumption of apple cider vinegar can improve the feeling of fullness, satiety which can reduce appetite and, in turn, promote weight loss. The authors of the same study also pointed out that the regular intake of apple cider vinegar can lead to causing a feeling of nausea, which can thereby cause some major side effects like acid reflux, change in bowel habits, gas, and burping, acute pancreatitis, damages in the oesophagus, etc.
